Michael started riding after years of domination on the local running scene. After trying his hand at triathlons, it became clear that cycling was what he was meant for. He did his first bike race on the Midwestern collegiate circuit, while in graduate school for philosophy at Northwestern. As he “enjoys road trips in vans and a high calorie diet”, he has quickly taken to the cycling lifestyle. For the 2005 season, Michael moved to New York and started racing in earnest as a cat 4. He worked up to cat 2 by the end of the year while riding with the TOGA! elite team in some of the bigger regional races.
Michael is currently in business school at Columbia, living on the upper west side with his girlfriend and their ill-tempered cat. He is really excited to be part of the Empire team for 2007 and beyond.
