Daniel started racing in the Czech Republic at age 15. He participated in two national championships and raced for the Czech Junior National team. After sustaining a shattered patella at age 18, Daniel thought his racing days were over. Several years after moving to the United States he got back on a bike, intending to improve his fitness. He soon realized he wanted to race again!
He quickly upgraded from Cat 5 to Cat 3 but then a crash during the 2004 Tour of Ohio sidelined him for rest of the season. His goal for 2005 was to upgrade to Cat 2, which he achieved after winning the Bear Mountain Fall Classic. He finished that season by winning the Jamestown classic, only the second Pro 1, 2 races he had ever entered.
His determination drives him to seek out harder races (NRC, UCI) to gain as much experience as possible. Daniel is looking forward to continuing with the Empire Cycling team in 2008.
